  1. A keyword. Customers text a word like JOIN or VIP to your number and they are on the list. Print it everywhere they already look: the counter, receipts, table tents, windows, your Instagram bio. Always pair it with a reason. "Text VIP to [number] for 15% off your next visit."
  2. A QR code at the counter. A small stand where people pay catches them at their happiest moment, right after a good experience. One scan opens a pre-filled text, one tap and they are subscribed.
  3. A checkbox where they already give you info. Booking forms, online orders, waitlists, loyalty signups. One extra line does the work: "Text me offers and updates."

What makes all three convert is an immediate reason to join. A concrete welcome offer, 15% off or a free add-on, earns itself back the first time that customer comes back. You are not giving away margin. You are buying a subscriber who will open almost everything you send.

Two rules protect the list from day one. Send one or two campaigns a week at most, and never text before 9am or after 8pm local time. The list you respect is the list that stays.
